Small Caterpillar® Excavators are very versatile machines. They're an excellent choice for trenching, site clearing, leveling, and truck loading. But they do have limits. Trained operators understand the limits of their machines, including their lift capability and swing radius. A Cat® Wheel Excavator has the mobility, speed, power and reliability to be the most versatile machine on the work site. Many operators of wheel excavators get their start with a track excavator. Don't assume that their operation is the same.
Wheel excavators can travel more quickly than track excavators. Stability depends on traveling with the boom in travel position and gradually slowing to a stop.
